Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification
Essential Qualifications (as on 22/09/2026):
- CPWD/CWC/Farakka Barrage/CWPRS/NTRO: Degree or Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized University or Institute.
- Border Roads Organization (BRO) & MES: Degree in Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering; OR 3-year Diploma in respective branch with 2 years of proven working experience in planning, execution, or maintenance. (Note: Only male candidates can apply for BRO posts).
- DGQA-Naval: Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering; OR 3-year Diploma with 2 years of relevant field experience.
- Director General of Lighthouses & Lightships: Degree in Civil/Electrical Engineering; OR Diploma in the respective discipline with 3 years of professional experience.
- JE (Telecom) in DoT: B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or Instrumentation.
- Scientific Assistant in IMD: Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Physics as a subject; OR Degree in Computer Science, IT, Computer Applications, Electronics, or Telecommunication Engineering.
Age Limit (as on 01/08/2026):
- CPWD & DGLL Posts: Up to 32 years (Born between 02/08/1994 and 01/08/2008).
- All Other Departments: Up to 30 years (Born between 02/08/1996 and 01/08/2008).
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST gets up to 5 years, OBC gets up to 3 years, PwBD candidates get 10 to 15 years, and Ex-Servicemen receive deductions as per central government norms.
Application Fee:
- General / OBC / EWS Male: ₹100/-
- Women, SC, ST, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen: Fully Exempted (Nil)

Selection Process:
- Paper-I (Computer Based Test): 200 Marks, 2 Hours duration. Includes General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 marks), General Awareness (50 marks), and Technical Engineering/Physics/IT Domain (100 marks). Negative marking: 0.25 marks. (Qualifying in nature for Paper-II shortlisting).
- Paper-II (Computer Based Test): 300 Marks, 2 Hours duration. Objective domain questions. Negative marking: 1 mark per incorrect answer. Final merit list is prepared strictly based on Paper-II normalized scores.
- Document Verification (DV): Conducted directly by the allotted User Departments after final recommendations.

- Complete your One-Time Registration (OTR) on the upgraded portal ssc.gov.in (legacy OTRs from ssc.nic.in are not valid).
- Aadhaar-based biometric authentication during OTR is recommended to ensure smooth identity verification on exam day.
